Animal WordArt- Part One

Art of Asia- Animal WordArt

Hi, all:

Well done with your first assignment. I really enjoy working on the gallery and keep thinking to share the link with your parents. I think they will appreciate it just like Ms. Hsieh. I am still waiting for some of the students to turn in the assignment. Here is a quote, I like it a lot:
“Most people are mirrors, reflecting the moods and emotions of the times; few are windows, bringing light to bear on the dark corners where troubles fester. The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.”
― Sydney Harris
You are windows, please continue bringing the light to shine every corner of the world.
Before you read the second-week lesson, I would like to explain some key points to answer the questions you might have from this project and the questions you had from your first-week project.
1. This project is for two weeks( part 1 and part 2).
2. Each week you need to submit the google classroom assignment that includes a checklist based on a rubric to ensure the quality of the project.
3. The artwork should be created by yourself not a picture you found online.
4. The process of making artwork each week should be for 50 minutes or more of your choice.
5. If you decide to take a photograph, you should keep in mind that this project requires you a 50 minutes studio time.
6. You can use any medium/materials to express your artistic mind through different variety of art styles.
7. This website served as storage of lessons and galleries for all grade levels. You should only do the assignments I post in your Google Classroom but not getting confused by this website.

8. All assignments should be turned in on time. The final artwork will be posted in the online gallery.

Animal WordArt examples from students:

 Steps:
1. Find a Chinese word( character) from google translation.  You can think of one English vocabulary through Google translation to obtain the Chinese Character. OR...At the end of this post, you can also get a Chinese character from the Wordbank. These Chinese characters from word bank are traditional you can also use Google translation to switch the traditional version to a simplified version.
You do not need to use two characters,  you can use the first one( the one on the left) 强 and think of one animal to combine them together.

2. An animal you like that "link" to the word. Either the word represents the strength of the animal or the form of the character you searched fits the shape of the animal you would like to draw.
3. Combine the word and animal together to create a design.

Example 1:
